ORIGINAL TITLE FTW!
So in art class this semester, we're doing sculpture. Our second task is a found object sculpture, and we have to include a fork somehow. One of the guys in my class decided to do the portal cake, buuut he is a terminally bad cook, so I was called in (I do a surprising amount of food art...) to help out, so I kinda see this as my project as much as his (honestly all he did here was buy the ingredients - but the second half of the sculpture, I understand, will be a metal cake, and that's all him.)
Right, so this is basically two chocolate cakes cut up and layered with royal icing and a jaffa. Later we'll add chocolate sprinkles or something to make it more portal-y We're letting it go stale so we can cover it in PVA glue later, so hopefully this thing will last quite a while. I'm quite happy with this. In fact ... it's hard to overstate my satisfaction.
